Lesson Objectives
All: To continue to develop our core and advanced skills for the long jump.
Outcomes:
To demonstrate momentum needed to achieve a good ‘flight’.
To achieve a maximum distance between take-off + landing by developing a 7 or 11 approach run.
In our KS3 long jump lesson, students will refine their core and advanced skills, focusing on maximising distance through effective take-off and flight phases. The session includes a structured warm-up, skills drills using hurdles, and practice jumps into a sandpit. Emphasis will be placed on achieving the optimal approach run, take-off, and flight position for better performance. Assessments will be conducted through peer, self, and teacher evaluations to ensure each student meets the learning objectives. Safety is paramount, with guidelines for footwear and equipment to prevent injury. Students will record their jumps, aiming to apply all learned techniques to improve their distances.
